Instilling a love for reading 和 an appreciation of language in our students is a prime goal of the department. Advanced 英语10 delves into the growth of 英国 Literature 和 its reflection of the social, 经济, 宗教, 和 political views of its differing time periods. The course begins with 贝奥武夫 和 Anglo-Saxon writings; students then study Chaucer 和 the Medieval Period before learning about the influential poets 和写rs from the Renaissance. Sophomores continue their studies of 英国 Literature by focusing on arguments from the Age of Reason, reading 小说 such as Frankenstein 和 《菠菜网最稳定正规平台》, 和 performing the drama 麦克白. These texts invite students to partake in intellectual conversations 和 written analysis; every trimester students 写 at least one in-class essay 和 one formal summative essay.

For all seniors: this class emphasizes skills that students will need in college courses.
